Town to Host Public Forum on Master Plan Update, Solicit Feedback from Residents
MERRIMAC — The Town of Merrimac invites residents to attend a public forum on the Town’s Master Plan update and provide vital feedback that will help shape the town’s future.
The meeting is open to all Merrimac residents and will be held on Wednesday, May 15, at 7 p.m. in Town Hall.
Merrimac’s leaders are working toward a vision for the next 10 to 15 years that reflects the community’s wishes and values on topics including land use, economic development, housing, services and facilities, and natural resources. The draft plan may be found here.
This process began in November with an in-person community meeting at which stakeholders provided feedback on existing conditions and issues facing the town. More than 500 residents responded to a survey with the same questions as the community meeting.
The town has enlisted the services of Barrett Planning Group to assist during this process. Barrett has developed a draft that examines existing conditions and historic trends to form a solid base of data on which to base goals and recommended action items. The latest draft incorporates comments and suggestions from the town’s working group.
Attendees to the May 15 meeting will hear a presentation on work to date, then break into small groups to brainstorm ideas for the Master Plan’s Goals and Objectives.
Merrimac residents with questions or comments are asked to contact Alyssa Sexton at asexton@townofmerrimac.com.
