[ARCHIVED] Water Conservation

TOWN OF MERRIMAC WATER DEPARTMENT

PUBLIC NOTICE

Fall and Winter 2019-20

 Year Round Conservation Is Requested

Recommendations for conservation of indoor water use:

  • Choose high efficiency plumbing products and appliances. Toilets account for twenty-four percent of indoor water use. Use the 1.28 gallons per flush or less, using low flow options. Clothes washers account for sixteen percent of indoor water use, aim for energy star, more efficient washers.
  • Fix leaks as soon as possible. Dripping faucets and leaking toilets, pipes, and appliances can add up to hundreds of gallons of water lost per week, representing dollars down the drain.
  • Reduce water use by not running water continuously at sinks. Limit times on shower usage too.
  • Users should aim, whenever possible, to decrease their average water use by 10%. The investment will pay back in the form of lower, wastewater, and energy bills.
