Mandatory Water Ban Effective Immediately
Mandatory Restrictions on Non-Essential Water Use
Town of Merrimac Director of Public Works, Robert Sinibaldi announced today that effective June 22nd, 2020, all non-essential outdoor water uses are prohibited until further notice.
The mandatory restrictions are due to the system’s inability to keep up with the demand. Water is being used faster than it is being pumped. When this occurs, the town’s standpipes (water towers) are not able to maintain levels necessary for system pressures and fire protection. A description of non-essential water uses subject to mandatory restrictions as well as permitted uses is described below.
Residents and business owners with questions on these restrictions should contact the Department of Public Works at 978-346-0525 or the Water Department 978-346-8407.
